When you drive a truck in Bayside, you’re getting a combination of style and power that few other drivers on the road can compare to. Whether just for cosmetics or for work purposes, if you want to know how to lift a truck, count on the experts at North Bay Cadillac to break it all down for you. The service experts at North Bay Cadillac can help you with any service issue, from maintenance to customization.

What Tools Do I Need to Lift a Truck?

Your first step in lifting your Roslyn truck is figuring out what tools you need. This is what goes into installing a lift kit:

  • Vehicle jacks and jack stands
  • Socket wrench
  • Torque wrench
  • Lug wrench
  • Screwdriver

You’ll also want a pry bar and hammer with you when you do this, just in case you have any old parts that you’ve got trouble removing. Bring the WD-40 or other penetrating oil of your choice to loosen those tight joints. Having a few extra nuts and bolts on hand will also help you out. This is just the start, though. If you’ve got access to a full shop, we suggest you use it.

If you need any of these parts or still haven’t gotten your lift kit yet, contact the service department at North Bay Cadillac today and order parts with us today. We can get you what you need to lift your truck properly, including genuine OEM parts.

How Do I Lift My Truck at Home?

Even though these are online instructions, you’ll need the instruction manual that came with your lift kit to do the job right. This is just a brief overview of what will go on so you can choose between a DIY job and professional installation from the service pros at North Bay Cadillac. After you’ve got the appropriate lift kit, here are the steps on how to lift a truck at home:

  1. Take off the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the lug nuts so the tires come off easier when your truck is off the ground.
  3. With the jack and jack stands, raise the vehicle. This will take some time, so make sure the vehicle has its center of gravity in the appropriate place.
  4. Take off the wheels and tires and put them aside.
  5. Remove the old U-bolts as well as the current shocks and springs.
  6. Place the new bolts on and assemble any new parts according to the lift kit’s instructions.
  7. With a torque wrench, ensure that all pieces and bolts are tight the way they should be in the specifications.
  8. Reattach the old tires or, if you need new tires, place them on at this time.
  9. Little by little, carefully lower your vehicle back to the ground, keeping it level as you lower it.

If this sounds like too much for your Manhasset truck, just bring it to North Bay Cadillac. We can get your truck lifted professionally!
